Scholia was a twenty-year journal series that was published at the University of Otago (2001-2011) and the University of Natal (1992-2000). The series featured critical and pedagogical articles on a diverse range of subjects dealing with classical antiquity, including late antique, medieval, Renaissance and early modern studies related to the classical tradition. It also included review articles, reviews and other sections dealing with classics. Its companion journal Scholia Reviews (ISSN 2306-4129) was an electronic journal that featured the pre-publication versions of reviews that appeared in Scholia.

Scholia and Scholia Reviews published 862 contributions by 392 scholars and academics at 193 universities and other institutions in 36 countries, namely Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of Congo, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malawi, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, United States, Wales and Zimbabwe.

Scholia was distributed to individuals, universities and libraries in 49 countries in Australasia, Africa, North America, Europe, South America and Asia and was exchanged with 119 other journals. Scholia was indexed and abstracted in L’Année Philologique (France), indexed in Gnomon (Germany) and TOCS-IN (Canada), and listed in Ulrich’s International Periodicals Directory (USA). Scholia was listed in the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training Register of Refereed Journals and was recognised by the South African Department of Education for research output subsidy. Scholia Reviews is available via the Classical Association of South Africa, EBSCO (USA) and SABINET (South Africa).
